Candid Photography ~ Birthday Party!

Was at my cousin's daughter's birthday party today. The party was as Yu Kids Island, The Curve. With all the cool climbing structures and balloon enclosures, filled with bright and colorful balloons, the place is a haven for kids alike. I, on the other hand, saw this as an opportunity to add my collection of candid photography with kids. Just love to catch their innocent expressions, be it a happy face or a grumpy one. Here's a collection of the birthday girl, herself ~

Happy 1st Birthday Ruqayya!! ;)

Street Photography ~ Thaipusam Festival

During Ramadhan last year, I did a bazaar Ramadhan photo album. That was when I just started 'playing' around with my Olympus. Although it was a fasting month and the weather was quite dry at most times, I really enjoyed the experience and learned a thing or two. Fast forward to last night, I decided to shoot the Thaipusam Festival at Batu Caves. Indeed it was such an experience! Thousands of people flocking the area. In total, almost a million Hindu believers and tourists visited Batu Caves during the 3-4 days festival. Ramadhan shoot experience helped me to quickly adapt to the situation. And this time I was accompanied by my old friend, Esry, a professional photographer. Since the shoot was at night, he suggested me to do monotone photography instead and to do my shoot manually, with ISO 6400 and maximum exposure of F1.8. And as the result, the photos were really nice. Here are the pix. Enjoy! ~

One of my recent hobbies is hiking. Did just that last Saturday with my fellow hikers. This time we went to Bukit Tabur, a hill located in Taman Melawati, Malaysia. This hill is very prominent as it is part of Klang Gates Quartz Ridge. Normally, it'll take about 3-4hrs to finish the climb. After an hour plus of climbing, you get the reward in terms of the beautiful scenery.

Have a look ~

Street Photography ~ Kuala Lumpur

Street photography in Kuala Lumpur is always fun for me. You'll never know what to expect so it's best to have your camera in your hands all the time! Despite the hustle and bustle of the city, I would prefer to go to the low-key streets and find my shots there. You'll be surprise with the brilliant mixture of colors KL could offer. A must cover areas would be Petaling Street, Central Market, Bricksfield, Bukit Bintang, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and Kampung Baru. In fact, some of my best shots, so far, I got from my KL street photography.

I plan to do more shots during night time as well. In the meantime...enjoy the pix!

Candid Photography ~ Kids

Candid photography involving children is another favorite of mine. To be able to capture their innocence and pure spirit would be an accomplishment in my book. It's never easy but if you could pull it off, it'll be magic!

Here are some of my collection ~

Street Photography ~ London/Paris

So far this was my best experience in doing street photography. Places covered were mainly in London area, i.e. Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Brick Lane, Limehouse, Canary Wharf just to name a few. While in France, I could only do a brief coverage of Paris. A revisit is a definite. Weather was the most obvious 'enemy' since it was during winter time. It took a lot of patience and perseverance just to get the shots I wanted. Took more than a thousand photos and overall, I'm happy with the outcome. Hope you will too.

Enjoy the photos!
